Indonesia Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed Indonesia has been developing an alert management system on food safety issues called Indonesia Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (INRASFF). Competent authorities (CA) realize the importance to have closer linkages among food safety authorities particularly to exchange and share information on food safety matters at national or global levels rapidly and effectively. Hence, National Agency of Drug and Food Control (NADFC), supported by relevant ministries in Indonesia, initiated development of INRASFF. This system is inspired by International Food Safety Authority Network (INFOSAN), a joint initiative between WHO and FAO, and developed based on EU RASFF model. The objective of implementing INRASFF is to protect Indonesian consumer from unsafe food and feed that can harm consumer`s health. Active participation between CA will contribute to an effective and efficient INRASFF implementation.
The pilot project of INRASFF has been started since 2010 involving some activities such as Identification of Competent Contact Point involved in INRASFF, Development of INRASFF guideline, Development of Legal Aspect of INRASFF Working Group, Development of application program, Improve capacity building of staff assigned, conduct regular meeting between INRASFF working group, etc. Information exchanged in INRASFF comes from different sources such as INFOSAN. EURASFF, USFDA, KFDA, etc. |
